Trans-isthmian route reactivated with the transport of 2,000 tons of wheat

The Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) and the Isthmus of TehuantepecRailway (FIT) transported 2,000 tons of wheat grain, through a transisthmian trip, which reactivated the rail service between the ports ofSalina Cruz and Coatzacoalcos.
Through a statement, it was reported that the product, owned by ViterraMexico, was imported from Canada and arrived at the Port of Salina Cruzon the Ship 'SSI PRUDENCE'.
From the port area, the wheat grain was transshipped to bulk hoppersowned by the FIT and transported to the warehouses of the TRIMEXcompany in the Port of Coatzacoalcos through Line Z.
Semar recalled that the last record of wheat transport that had beencarried out at an interoceanic crossing dates back to 2018, in an attempt toreactivate the rail service between the port areas.
“This is how after six years, on November 15 of this year, the movement ofinteroceanic wheat was restarted”, he said.
The agency explained that Viterra Mexico is a company that connectsproducers and consumers to supply agricultural products, which hasmanaged to establish a global agricultural network that spans 39 countries.
While Grupo Trimex del Sureste is a Mexican company dedicated toproducing, distributing and marketing products of the wheat industry,leader in the production of wheat flour in Mexico.
Semar stressed that, with this trans-isthmus trip, it seeks to consolidate thetrade route as an efficient and sustainable alternative for cargo transportbetween the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
