DHL Express:Only 9% of SMEs would invest more than 5% in sustainability

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are still reluctant toallocate a significant budget for sustainability, according to a surveyconducted by DHL Express.The results presented by the logistics company indicate that althoughthere is a broad understanding of the importance of this issue, only 9% ofSMEs are willing to invest more than 5% in sustainable solutions.
While 53% consider between 1 and 3% of their budget for the issue and16% will not invest anything.The survey conducted by DLH Express indicates that SMEs in countriessuch as China and India are the ones that show the greatest interest inadopting sustainable logistics practices.72% of Chinese SMEs and 59% of Indian SMEs said sustainability is"extremely important" to their business, compared to a global average of35%.
Fashion industry, supporter ofsustainability
The survey of 5,000 decision-makers in SMEs from 11 markets around theworld, details that the fashion industry is the most supportive ofsustainability.81% of respondents in the industry said it is "very important" or"extremely important" to their business, while 78% felt that offeringsustainable delivery options could improve their brand image.
This industry was joined by the financial services sector, wheresustainability was considered to be 'extremely important' for the business.In this sector, SMEs are more likely to offer sustainable delivery options inorder to achieve greater commercial success.
