On a tour of the streets of the city, people were observed in the streets carrying umbrellas, sunglasses and carrying bottles of water to cope with the heat.

Given the high temperatures that have been recorded in Nuevo León, citizens have looked for different ways to cope with the intense heat, which this Wednesday reached 40°C in the metropolitan area.

During a tour carried out by ABC News, people were observed in the streets carrying umbrellas, caps, sunglasses and carrying bottles of water to stay hydrated and protect themselves from the sun.

Cristina Navarro, 49, who was walking with María Casillas, 81, commented that the heat has been extreme in recent days, to the extent that at one point both felt dizzy.

"We endured the heat with an umbrella and water and since I suffer from the pressure and the sun is eager, well, I got dizzy and so did she," Navarro shared.

However, the people of Monterrey have found different ways to mitigate the high temperatures, from looking for air-conditioned spaces to resorting to cold drinks.

Even sellers of fresh water and ice popsicles pointed out that in recent days they have seen an increase in their sales due to the demand for refreshing products, and they expect that in the coming days there will be a considerable increase in this, as announced by Alejandro González, an employee of one of these stores.

"As soon as the temperature goes up and everyone wants to cool off, if in these days that the temperature has risen to more than 30 degrees people let themselves come from the waters and it will increase even more because on the weekend there are more people around here and that is when you can sell more," said González.

Meanwhile, the city is preparing to receive thousands of tourists this weekend with the celebration of the Pa'l Norte festival, days in which high temperatures will be recorded.

According to weather forecasts, temperatures will continue to be close to 40°C for this Friday, while on Saturday and Sunday they could drop slightly, although the atmosphere will continue to be hot.

Authorities recommend that those attending the event constantly hydrate, wear light clothing and sunscreen, as the heat will continue to affect the region for the next few days.
