In a new chapter in the U.S. president's tariff wars, he will now turn his attention to these components of electronics.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Saturday that on Monday he will talk about the possible application of tariffs on semiconductors, in the midst of the trade war he has with China and in the face of growing doubts about the alleged erratic strategy in this area.

After having shaken the markets for the last ten days by first announcing the widespread application of a large volume of tariffs to the rest of the world and then backing down, to redouble its offensive against Beijing while the cost of financing US debt continued to rise, today it became known that Washington has decided to leave countless Chinese technology products untaxed.

When asked about the decision of the Office of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to exclude Chinese phones, computers, screens and all kinds of technological components from the lists of goods to which tariffs of 145% would be applied, as well as the possibility that his government will announce tariffs for semiconductors entering the US, Trump said only that he would give more information on Monday.

"I will give you the answer on Monday. We will be very specific," the Republican replied aboard Air Force One, the U.S. presidential plane, bound for Miami, where he went to attend a mixed martial arts fight.

"The fact is that we are earning a lot of money. As a country, we are bringing in a lot of money," Trump added in reference to customs collection, which increased in March by about one billion dollars compared to February's figure, thanks to the application of the first tariff waves he announced on Chinese goods or on steel and aluminum.

With tariffs on imports above 100%, markets are eager for the possibility that Washington and Beijing will begin to show some kind of rapprochement to prevent the trade war between the world's two largest economies from becoming entrenched and leading to a global recession.
